The Governor Steps Down

It has been a strange summer for Republicans. First, Senator Ensign from Nevada goes public with his blackmail story and scandal. Then Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina completely loses it over his mistress from Argentina. Two bright political careers flame out rather quickly. Sanford should be stepping down fairly soon.

But what the heck happened up in Alaska today? Gov. Sarah Palin announced she was stepping down at the end of July. Not that she wasn't going to run for re-election in 2010; she simply was walking away. Now. The national press has been characterizing Palin's press conference (in which she took no questions) as disjointed. Pundits from coast to coast are surprised by the announcement.

It doesn't seem to make much sense, nor does it inspire much confidence in the ability of Sarah Palin to serve in national political office. Some of her allies were saying she was done with political life. Others are claiming she's merely laying the groundwork for a presidential run in 2012. But why resign from office? Who resigns from office these days? Why can't she finish out her term for another 18 months and THEN run? Does she know about something looming on the horizon that we don't? Are there more scandals brewing in Juneau that we're not aware of? There's talk of Palin joining a conservative think tank of getting her own radio talk show.

Very bizarre. Should she run for office in 2012, I suspect this decision will come back to haunt her. It seems to undercut her credibility as a leader.

Meanwhile, the luck of Obama continues. He struggles and fights, but when you look at the opposition, well, he still seems pretty strong.

Well, apparently, as I predicted months ago, the July 4 tea party efforts are a dud.

  • It does seem strange and counter intuitive for her to do this if she is to continue a career in political life. Perhaps she is just truly tired of being under the microscope of scrutiny by fellow politicos and the press. So far I haven't seen an explanation that justifies her behavior. Is she not leaving her state at a time when leadership is needed the most?
I cannot condemn her as I, like the rest of us, have not walked in her shoes. I wish her well.

"If fascism is defined in terms of a core ideology of ultra-nationalism that aspires to bring about the renewal of a nation's entire political culture, then the picture changes. The features so firmly associated with it in the popular historical imagination cease to be definitional. Instead they can be seen as external and time-bound manifestations of the central ideological driving force that is its only permanent feature: the war against the decadence of society and the struggle for national rebirth."

  • No, Wise Guy, wrong again.

The Tax Protest Rally will be held today at Santa Rosa Park at around noon. There was a guy passing out flyers at Farmers Market on Thursday.

There are other Tax Prtest Rallies scheduled around the country. From the Quad Cities, Cleaveland, Syracuse, Kentucky to Washington state and Washington DC. There are six in the Baltimore area and news reports say that there will be about 1,400 around the country.

A quick Google search would have told you that there are hundreds of July 4th rallies planned around the country. Instead of choosing to speak from a position of knowledge on the subject, you choose to speak from a position of utter ignorance which is normal for you.

I would say that you were welcome to attend, but I don't see any way for you to be able to leave your hate and self-loathing at home.

I can tell you what has fizzled, Uh-bama's polling. Many polls, like Gallup and Rasmusen, have his job approval right around 52 to 56%. More people favor Republicans over Democrats on handling the economy. Mor people identify themselves as conservatives than any other ideological group. Liberals came in dead last. And Uh-bama's approval index is ZERO, which means that the number of people that strongly approve of Uh-bama's performance is equal to those that strongly disapprove of his job performance. At this rate, Republicans will have the opportunity to get back both houses in 2010 if they campaign on a "must stop Uh-bama" platform.

As for Sarah Palin, I think she resigned from the governorship too soon. Hopefully, she will use this time to get smart enough to be able to answer questions from lame brain Katie Couric without embarassing herself.

I'm actually sorry to hear about her getting out of politics, she was the best advertisement for being a liberal the world has ever known. Well, her and Rush. Now time to make the Democratic politicians represent us instead of their corporate cronies. Time to force Obama to stop being Bush/Reagan lite.

  • Let's get serious. There's bound to be some element protesting somewhere on Fourth of July, but that is certainly no sign that the tea bag protest movement of a few months ago is growing. Even Sarah Palin bailed on the concept, apparently having better things to do with her tea bags.

But if you want to protest the U.S. Government on Independence Day, you've got that right.

God Bless America! God Bless Barack Obama!

By Anonymous Wise Guy, at Saturday, July 04, 2009 1:21:00 PM

  • BigTent, thanks for including that "tea party" link, to show us that the "tea party" concept has been co-opted by the American Family Association, an extreme right wing Christian fringe organization, with, among other things, an anti-homosexual agenda, including attempts to make homosexuality a CRIMINAL offense.

The American Family Association is apparently operating a website and organizing the "tea party" rallies as a way of getting donations to further the agenda of the American Family Association.

It's ironic that the AFA would slyly co-opt the "tea party" concept and use it on Independence Day, seeing that the AFA has opposed equal rights legislation and has promoted censorship of print and electronic media.

Once again the right wing fringe are being taken for suckers. In this case when they think they are protesting taxes, they are really working as shills to help bring in donations nationwide to fund extreme, anti-liberty religious fundamentalists.

This is another example of the shameful stunts and sleazy antics that are being done in the name of "conservatives."

  • Former Bush adviser Karl Rove and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee both seemed to be scratching their heads over Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's decision to resign her office in an appearance along with Alaska Lt. Gov Sean Parnell on "Fox News Sunday."

Rove said, "I'm a little perplexed," since "she's not going to be able to escape media attention."

And Huckabee deemed it "a risky strategy," adding that "if she did get out because of a feeling of getting chased, that's not going to stop if she stays in politics."

He also questioned the way the resignation was announced, saying, "You don't call a press conference to create questions, you call one to resolve them."

Huckabee, looking at his own time as a governor, asked that "If that had been the case for me, I would have quit about the first month? Been there, done that.? One of the things you have to do is decide, 'Look, they're not going to chase me out.'"

"The danger that Sarah Palin faces," said Huckabee -- who said that "I'm a Sarah Palin fan and I like her personally" "the challenge that she's going to have is people who say, '"Look if they chase you out of this it won't get any easier for you."

Both Huckabee and Rove counseled that Palin would now have to demonstrate that she was capable of effecting change without holding elected office if she wants to establish herself as a viable candidate for the GOP's 2012 presidential nomination.

Said Rove, "She can't be a conventional candidate, she never has been."

  • Guess who's Fourth of July speech this would be:

"It's just like in basketball. you have two teams, and one ball, and the clock is always ticking, unless its time out. You have people cheering for you and cheering for the other team.

"When you get the ball, doesn't matter if you are a guard, forward or center, you have to do something with it. And that's the point. But what people forget is that there are two baskets and you don't want to be aiming for the wrong one, because if you do, well darn, you're better off sitting on the bench. But when you have that crowd cheering for you, you can pass, dribble or shoot, and it really doesn't matter which one you do as long as you know what's happening with the shot clock.

"And you don't want to go out of bounds, of course! That wouldn't be good. And, I'll tell, you, there are a LOT of folks in Washington going WAY out of bounds these days. I don't have to tell any of you about all that. You're watching from the sidelines. You see it! Problem is, there aren't any referees stopping the clock and taking the ball away from them! Right? That's right!

"Well, we're going to take that ball, put it in play and we're going to keep it in bounds. That doesn't mean we're not going to play tough when we have to. A foul here and a foul there, well that's okay. That's part of the rules. You just don't do too many, or you foul out. But we don't need a referee to tell us that, do we? No sirree!

"We know the rules. And with you cheering me, we're going to make the other team follow the rules, aren't we! Right!

"So there you have it, it doesn't matter if you score by bouncing the ball off the backboard or if you make a swish. Either way you just scored and that's helped your team. And that's the way politics should be! So watch out, be ready when I hit the hardwood! God Bess America!"

I, personally, do not agree with everything that the president has done, but he is still the president and deserves the respect of every loyal citizen of this country. To call him anything other than "President Obama" is, in my opinion, only showing a complete lack of respect for the office and government of this country. If you cannot respect the office than perhaps you should find another country to reside in. Maybe England where they seem to have very little respect for their elected representatives. I understand that you are not happy with our elected choice, but he is still the president and deserves your respect.

  • President Obama IS strong.

Fact is that policies and spending bills enacted by President Obama amount to only a small fraction of our nation's deficit. Just like someone who is given a clunker of a car and has to spend money repairing it, Obama has to spend some money to repair our economy.

Do Republicans think our nation is not worth repairing? Would they rather it be thrown on the scrap heap and re-fabricated by a third world country?

A big factor in stimulating an economy is having people feel optimistic about it. The Republicans seem to be doing everything they can to harm our economy, with their primary motivation seeming to be a desire to want to say "I told you so."

If Rush Limbaugh won't stand as the defacto leader of the Republican Party, I'm sure Osama Bin Ladin would be happy to. Republicans sure seem happy to do bin Ladin's work for him. He can relax in his cave knowing Republicans are doing more to harm the United States than he has been able to do on his own.

Osama Bin Ladin coins the disrespectful term "Uh-Bama" and shameless, desperate Republicans pick up on it and repeat it. Disgusting!

  • All I have to say to anyone who attacks the way opponents of the current occupant (as Bill Mahr referred to Bush) is "Up yours".

NOT ONE liberal had ANYTHING respectful or even nice to say about Bush while he was in office. Dave accused him of being illiterate and marrying his wife for that reason. Dave lets SM Bill on his show to accuse Bush of being everything but white. Marilyn has posted comments about Bush that makes me think she hates all men. Bob, Wise Guy, and others have said the most meanspirited things about Bush and that was okay. There are even some comments that Tom has made in the heat of debate that were disrespectful of Bush. So we, on the right, have to sit around and take all of the venom, hatred and disrespect for Bush and yet when we have a man elected to the presidency that is EXACTLY the same as Bush but is a liberal black, and NOW we have to show respect for the presidency?!?! What utter hypocritical BULLSHIT!

Uh-bama stutters and stammers WORSE than Bush ever did. Uh-bama blows easy statements without a teleprompter. He sounds like an empty-headed dunce when he is allowed to speak without prepared text from David Axlerod.

He has NOT closed Gitmo, he still is wiretapping Americans, he still has troops in Iraq, he put more troops in Afghanistan, he has spent more bailout money than Bush did, he is still conducting renditions, he still is abridging Americans civil liberties, worse than Bush EVER did and those of us on the right who don't like the blind sycophantic hypocracy can't speak OUR minds about it?

Tom Is a hypocrite... or he is INCREDIBLY forgetful of the recent past conduct of the leftists on this blog.

    Take your pick.

And NO, I am staying here and fighting to protect America from fools like Uh-bama, Wise Guys and anyone else that wishes to go down the failed route of that socialist nightmare known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

By the way, Alec Baldwin said after Bush won the election he was moving to Canada... and he didn't like the loudmouth chump he is. NO ONE on the right has threatened to leave the country since Uh-bama won the presidency. Consider that for a second before you tell Conservatives that they should "love it or leave it".

  • Mr. "Anonymous", calling George W. Bush a war criminal and a murderer and a liar and a shill for financial industry thieves and scam artists is NOT the same as the schoolyard bully insults and racial slurs that some "conservatives" have tried painting President Obama with.

The criticisms of Bush for the most part are serious allegations worthy of being investigated by a court of law or international tribunal.

On the other hand, the childish tauntings aimed at President Obama seem to be mostly the desperate cries of disgruntled envious people who can't stand the idea that history has passed them by, they are in the fringe minority, and that so much of what they believed in has turned out to be hollow or bankrupt.

And I don't know why you would think any of us would care that "NO ONE on the right has threatened to leave the country" since President Obama won the presidency.

I think our nation would be a lot better off if many of these tax-whining, anti-government, disrepectful anti-Patriot Republicans and fanatic-fringe "conservatives" would leave the U.S.. For one thing, it might open their minds to broader view of the rest of the world and perhaps inspire them to respect and work with other nations, rather than fight them.

We need to unite the world, not divide it.

  • Wise Guy,

First, I am the anonymous poster with my response to Tom. In my haste, I hit send before I signed it with my nom de plume.

Second, no one said that no one has the right to say that they can't leave the country. I don't know where you got that.

Thirdly, President Uh-bama has doen nothing but drive the country into further and further malaise. His "stimulus" bill was nothing more than a $787 billion pay-off to his union buddies and ACORN that got him elected. It was a pork-barrel bill the likes of which make the 2006 Transportation Bill (the one with the "bridge to nowhere") seem like sound and fiscally responsible stimulus. At least we would actual have gotten a bridge out of that bill. Instead, Tom Harkin is researching pig stink in Iowa with that money. Ma and Pa Clampett are finally getting the internet in Jerkwater, West Virginia courtesy of Robert Byrd. The list goes on and on with the monumental waste of time, effort and money his so-called stimulus bill was supposed to provide.

It has provided nothing, certainly not confidence.

The two and a half million jobs lost since Obama's inauguration has done nothing to spur confidence in anything, certainly not his job approvals which have continued to fall as he proposes more and more Hugo Chavez-inspired tyrannies over Americans and their way of life.

How is Uh-bama different than Bush again?

Uh-bama is just as anti-gay rights and gay marriage as Bush, former Miss California Carrie Prejean, and a majority of the voters of the State of California.

North Korea detonated its first nuclear device on Uh-bama's watch.

Iran is in turmoil and Uh-bama does nothing to help... just like Clinton and Rwanda or George H. W. Bush and the Shiites in Iraq.

    What has changed?

Unemployment is the highest in two generations and climbing. Our debt is the highest it has ever been and Uh-bama proposes to double that again. Uh-bama favors a cold, calculated inhuman bureacracy instead of a patient-doctor relationship in determining who gets what healthcare. We went into debt this year sooner than any other year. His first choice for supreme court justice is a repudiated non-constitutionally thinking racist.

Uh-bama is going to go down as the worst, most malevolent, anti-American business, pro-socialist, anti-growth president in history. Also, he will do more to start wars all over the world as the United States retreats from its global hegemon status, which we have held effectively since 1945. As tinhorn dictators, aggrevied populations and historical animosities see that there is no global power keeping the world order, they will seek to use this time of US weakness under Obama to achieve their aims. to wit: North Korea reuniting the pennisula, Palestinians getting back their "homeland" as Israel stands alone, the Kurds igniting a four-front war for Kurdistan, Kashmir being settled between nuclear powered India and Pakistan. The list goes on.

The only history taking place here is how America had to endure a power-hungry tyrannt wannabe acting more in the tradition of Lenin and Mao than in in the traditions of Jefferson, Hamilton, Adams and Washington.

I wish you crazy ass liberals would leave America like you all promised in 2000. At least we would be free of your insane and failed marxist-socialist designs for America.

  • Anonymouse: I did disparage President Bush once or twice, then I refrained from any other signs of disrespect for the office of President, and I stopped insulting George W. Bush the man as well. Now, as to calling him a war criminal, IMO, that, is justified due to the facts that would stick in an international court investigating such charges. That is my opinion, which is what this forum is about, opinion. You can have any opinion of President Obama you wish, but if you want to come here and call him names or throw out charges of his "misdeeds and/or high crimes or treason", then have some evidence to back up your assertions. To call our President names just because you don't agree with him is just plain juvenile, period. Elevate your game, back up your charges and you may find room for some real discussion, not just trading barbs.
As for Governor Palin; the FBI has come out and in an unprecedented move, has publically stated that Governor Palin was not under federal investigation. Is there more to the investigations being conducted by the state of Alaska? Or is the Governor simply quitting so she can focus on her presidential aspirations for 2012, or is she going to start a new third party, or is she just going to focus on making money, perhaps becoming a commentator for Fox News, or perhaps have her own reality show? The easy joke there is that since she seems to be in her own reality, a t.v. show wouldn't be too difficult to manage. As the saying goes, the story is "developing", so let's all stay tuned.

Where were all the women's organizations? Silent. So here we are in 2009 where the state run media sugar coats Obama's massive failures and gives him 2 hour infomercials dressing it up like news. It's sad.
What happened to Palin has set women's rights back 35 years. What Obama is doing has set America back 125 years. We will at least 2 decades recovering from his spending follies.
Just remeber this; as this economy continues to tank more and more tax supported employees and programs will be cut and it will be many years before they are rehired and reinstated. You libs best wise up about Obama and start calling a spade a spade as it relates to higher taxes, cap and trade, and socialized healthcare befor it's too late.
The wealthy will always be OK...it's the little folks that will hurt from all of this outrageous spending.
It's not Obama over Bush...It's liberty and low taxes over a huge government machine making every decision for your lives. Some want that but when they get it they will hate it.

  • Nice graph there BTR. If our current point is the last of the red line, then by extrapolation, six months ago (when your beloved Shrub was in charge) Shrub had already pushed the roller coaster way over the edge and was in a real nosedive by the time the new pilot took over.

Are you expecting Obama to turn things around as fast as Shrub did to the surplus that was left him?

Yep, those whole six months that he's been in office are responsible for the economic collapse we're experiencing. What about Cheney's statement that "Bush did not want to be the one who 'pulled the plug' on General Motors and instead decided to pass on the issue to President Barack Obama."? Does that mean nothing to you?

As for Korea, I bet they rushed to build that bomb in record time - again, nothing to do with Shrub's policies - right?

Time and again, in their postings to this forum the right wing extremists complain that President Obama offers us no "change" in policies, yet they simultaneously, sometimes in the same paragraph, complain about the big turn in direction he is steering our nation into, as they rail about Obama's "socialist" agenda, "statist" policies, and "Marxist" plans.

When I bother to read these tedious copy-and-paste laundry lists of criticism of President Obama, as a whole, they rarely make any logical sense. They seem always to be wild, out-of-control ranting, filled with cliches and catch phrases that as a whole are so absurd as to be ridiculous to try to debate. It's like Alice in Wonderland trying to make sense of what the Mad Hatter is in a tizzy about.

And then you know that even the anti-Obama fanatics understand that their arguments are non-sensical, because they then try to prop up their lame arguments by hurling the most childish and rude personal insults at those who don't agree with them.

And, naturally, one of these repeat offenders puts the icing on the cake by calling ME crazy!

Some people just can't handle change. President Obama is bringing change. And the changes he is working toward I like. Some of us are simply fortunate to be at a level of consciousness where we can appreciate and flow with the positive change and evolution that is inevitable if our nation is to survive and prosper with peace and justice becoming more pervasive.

President Obama is but one man, one part of a much greater evolution that is sweeping our nation. The fearful, regressive, repressive and selfish among us will try to put out obstacles and road blocks, and they will slow the evolution, but they will never, never turn it back. The regressives can step up and join us in peace and harmony, or they can be dragged along kicking and screaming.

    A new day is rising.

Thank God and praises to our United States Constitution that does not require any of us to believe in or hold allegiance to any god.

    Go President Obama!

  • How is it that the conservative fringe can justify their now frequent refrain that the "media" is "state owned"?

Does this include the Fox News media or the media company that hires Rush Limbaugh?

This is a classic example of the sleazy, propaganda cliches and catch phrases that the right wing fringe chant like religious mantras.

Other than not liking what they hear from particular media, they don't point to a single piece of evidence to support their "state owned media" allegations.

It seems nearly everything the conservatives and Republicans are doing these days to rally and unite their movement is based on empty claims and misinformation. Examples of THAT abound, and can certainly be found throughout this forum.

Right wing extremists will compose entire posts founded upon information or slogans that have no basis in fact. Some of the fanatics undoubtedly belief the misinformation, apparently feeling that because they read it enough and hear it repeated so often on the radio and on the internet, then it must be true. And, of course, the irony is they call liberals "pawns" or "sheep."

I used to say most conservatives were misguided, and now that I have spent more time examining it, I see that in many cases this is literally true.

Right wing radio broadcasts with impunity misinformation and outright lies nearly continuously. And that same misinformation is repeated on the internet. It is the very pervasiveness of the propaganda that gives the illusion that the lies must be true.

Its as if they can't accept that powers that be in America would allow Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity to broadcast outright lies and propaganda daily on hundreds of radio stations. Wake up, folks. That is exactly what is happening.

What is so insane is that the conservative fringe will claim that the media information they don't like hearing is "controlled by the state" and yet they seem to harbor no suspicions about the media outlets that tell them what they find comforting.

If it makes them feel good, they trust it. If it challenges their world view, they distrust it, they dismiss it as "state owned".

    Insanity!

  • Bush/Cheney screwed up so much that U.S. presidents a hundred years from now will be blaming them for things and finding remnants of their mess that will still need to be cleaned up.

President Obama, as wise and capable as he is, can only do so much in eight years. It's a heavy burden to have to assume the presidency when your predecessor was the worst U.S. president ever.

Bush starts a war and leaves it to President Obama to end it. Thanks a lot, pal! Any maniac can start a war in an instant, but it takes skill and time to properly end one.

If President Obama in eight years can clean up even a quarter of the messes of the Bush/Cheney years and the disaster known as "Reaganomic" deregulation, then I'm sure history will deem him a wise and successful president.

I think President Obama has already proven himself to be a wise and powerful leader who is a tremendous boon to the United States and the preservation of the legacy established by our nation's Founding Fathers.

The American people did good. After a serious misstep, they were finally ready to chart a m progressive, more healthy course for the nation and they picked the right man for the presidency.

    Go President Obama!

  • Wise Guy is utter twisted and irrational.

Right-wing radio, like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, are ONE MAN's OPINION. There are maybe a dozen right-wing radio hosts able to affect policy. This is in stark constrast to the Mainstream media which represents hundreds of like-minded people, (editors, producers, reporters, anchors, researchers, etc) who put out EXACTLY the same story. Even FoxNews says exactly the same thing as NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and ABC nine times out of ten. What all you liberal lunatics fixate on is the Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Sustren block of programing. 3 hours of 24 does not a mouthpiece network make.

What is propaganda, though, is the White House that calls reporters the night before and tells them what question to ask when they are picked. What is propaganda is staging a "townhall forum" by prescreening all of the questions the president will get. What is propaganda is restricting the media's access, lavishly lapdog as it is, to the facts by putting that arrogant boob, Robert Gibbs, out there to smirk, giggle, lie, deceive, dodge, obfiscate, dissemble and just plain not answer the question asked. Joseph Goebbles wishes he had the propaganda apparatus that Uh-bama enjoys. This is a propaganda apparatus unprecedented in history.

FoxNews is one network among 8 that has news dominated programing. What about the dying print media, like Associated Press, NYT, and the other outlets that are absolutely slavish in their adoration of this president and his policies? Never has the media been such a part and parcel to a president getting his message out and his agenda enacted. After all, 90 percent voted for him.

Talk about lying to the American public, how about the firings of all of those inspectors general going on in this white house? First Americorps' IG is fired, now AMTRAK's. One of the IGs fired was the IG responsible for watchdoging the stimulus money. You remember, the man who was to ensure that the money was spent right. Now there are millions unaccounted for and this is with only 6% of the money out there. These guys are supposed to be fired with consent from Congress and Uh-bama fires them like the tinhorn dictator he is. Yet another illegal act from a wannabe dictator.

This is not just a power grab by a power mad president. This is a complete usurpation of our Constitutionally guaranteed rights. It brings into jeopardy the very legitimacy of our entire system of government when you have a president performing so many unconstitutional acts unchecked by Congress, unreported by the press, and utterly unaware or unconcerned by the cult of Uh-bama on the fringe lunatic left.

The United States of America may not survive the Era of Uh-bama and his Marxist-Socialist schemes for this country.

  • There is NO evidence that any of the U.S. TV or radio networks or major city newspapers are "state run."

If the United States survived Bush/Cheney, it can survive just about anything.

    The sky is NOT falling.

    Change is good.

    Quality healthcare for all.

    Go President Obama!

    P.S. BigTent, what is a "Marxist-Socialist scheme"?

And if I am so "twisted and irrational" why do you feel the need to spend so much effort publicizing it? Wouldn't it be obvious? And why, if you are so "rational", would you spend so much effort commenting upon and debating the points made by someone "twisted and irrational"? And all your rude insults, only detract from your efforts. Sorry, I may not be on your level, but what you say just doesn't add up to be particularly "rational" yourself.

I really wish you could be more civil and not lower the level of discourse here. I really think it discourages others from participating. In fact, I'm sure it does If you behaved like that at a public meeting, you would surely be gaveled down. I realize you are frustrated and angry, but I'm sure you can do better if you try. Many of us would appreciate it. Thanks!

  • The truth wiseguy tries to deflect with his inane rhetoric.

Stop thinking of the Democratic Party as merely a political party, because it’s much more than that. We’re not just the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition. Not just the party of Aaron Burr, Boss Tweed, Richard J. Croker, Bull Connor, Chris Dodd, Richard Daley, Bill Ayers, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II. Not just the party of Kendall “Agent 202” Myers, the State Department official recruited as a Cuban spy along with his wife during the Carter administration. Rather, think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.

This truth get clearer ever day.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tuesday, July 07, 2009 9:27:00 AM

  • First of all, it is too easy to take polling information and statistics and spin them to make just about any point. Polling is not the "science" it often purports to be. You really need to read the exact questions that were asked THROUGH THE ENTIRE SURVEY, not just select questions/responses to even begin to get a grasp of what the results might indicate.

You also have to consider what questions were NOT asked. Responders who show disapproval in one area regarding a particular politician can simultaneously show HUGE approval regarding that same politician about some other aspect. Then the questions comes down to what is more important? And then you come up with a myriad of possible INTERPRETATIONS.

Secondly, what are the significance of any of these sort of polling results? Polling results seem to have more relevance near the time of an election (though they have been shown to continually be widely MISINTERPRETED and misleading as to what the portend.)

President Obama has three and a half years to go until the only poll with real significance is taken, and that is the presidential election.

In the meantime pollsters and polling fans with continually pick whatever poll results they want and use them to try to bolster whatever political propaganda they with to spread at the moment.

Its all mostly a wast of time and fraught with error and gross misinterpretation.

President Obama is popular with people I like and respect and who show wisdom and success in their personal lives. That means more to me than any hundred questionable poll results.

And examine the kind of remarks/character traits exhibited by these people who gleefully try to spread anti-Obama polling propaganda and slander. That tells me plenty. Are those the kind of people I would want as dinner guests or around my children? Never!

  • What does "state run" have to do with anything? Everyone knows that none of the media outlets are state-owned, despite the efforts of the SanFran Chronicle and the Boston Globe to get a bailout. However, Uh-bama doesn't need to own the media if they blindly and willingly report everything he says the way he wants it reported. That is the worst part of this; the media does NO RESEARCH whatsoever into the motives, fine print or even the particular details of a particular policy. Look at the Stimulus Bill for instance. Not ONE congressman or senator actually read the bill before they voted on it. Uh-bama said that the American people would be allowed 72 hours to read every bill. That promise has yet to be kept. When the media allows Uh-bama to get away with things like this, he owns them in a metaphysical and practical sense.

I am still waiting to see the "change" that all you liberal lunatics said was here. Wise Guy said that "change is good". What change? How can there even be change if, as Wise Guy says, it will take 100 years to undo the damage Bush/Cheney did. That makes change nearly impossible. But that is not the point. The point is that you Liberal lunatics need a scapegoat in order to seize power and turn America into a Marxist-Socialist state.

Wise Guy asked "what is a "Marxist-Socialist scheme?"

The marxist-socialist scheme is to return the wealth of America to the rightful owners. The rightful owners are the workers of the United States, which in Uh-bama's mind is the unions. Union workers get HUGE breaks in EVER bill passed and every action taken. The GM and Chrysler buy-ups by the Federal Government resulted in the UAW being given 50+% ownership in each company and the UAW was placed ahead of secured debt holders in bankruptcy court. That means that the union healthcare funds for GM and Chrysler got first dibs in bankruptcy over retired school teachers and cops everywhere. UAW got 60 cents on the dollar, whereas the bond holders got 20 cents. In Uh-bama care, unions are exempted from the Uh-bamacare national tax. Look at Sonja Sotomayor. She was picked because she looks at cases from an empathy basis not a legal or constitutional basis. Her empathy is what is supposed to bring social justice instead of upholding the law or ruling on actual constitutionality. All you liberal lunatics and Uh-bama wish to tax the "rich" to pay the poor for the services they need. Under Cap-n-Trade, the poor receive a direct payment rebate from the government to offset the increased costs of the plan.

If you look at the ten planks of Marxist-Socialism, number 8 has came to pass under Uh-bama and Turbo Tax Cheat Geithner. The Federal Government has become the lender of first resort and control sources of credit as they buy-out banks with TARP money and get to dictate terms and conditions for money.

All this is part of the Marxist-socialist scheme of Uh-bama and his lunatic liberal buddies in Congress, the media and the unions.

This kind of change is NOT GOOD in any way, shape, matter or form.

  • At a loss to explain Sarah Palin's resignation after months of putting herself in the spotlight, many pundits -- particularly conservatives who support her political career -- have suggested the Alaska governor is working on a 2012 presidential run. But Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele said, in no uncertain terms, that it simply can't happen.

"Not having talked to the governor, I take 2012 off the table right now simply because given everything she's going through personally, dealing with the financial mess that all these ludicrous investigations have put her and Todd in, at the moment, I think she's trying to focus on getting her house in order, her personal house in order," Steele told FOX News.

"I look forward to welcoming her out and helping us in our campaigns this fall if and when shes ready to do that. Sarah Palin will be the ultimate arbiter of when she will engage and how she will engage," he said.

A sizable number of Republicans -- but less than a majority -- seem to agree that it's not a good idea. According to a Rasumussen poll, 40% think the resignation hurts her chances of winning the nomination in 2012.

  • So the media is supposedly state run; not- Time Warner (Time magazine, Warner Brothers, HBO, CNN, AOL), Disney (ABC, ESPN), Bertelsmann (Random House), Viacom (CBS, Paramount, MTV, the Infinity radio network), News Corporation (Rupert Murdoch's vehicle: Fox TV, the New York Post, HarperCollins), and Vivendi Universal (with labels such as Polygram and Motown, it controls a fifth of the world's music sales) are the largest of the corporations that own media outlets in the US,and the Big Six control three of the four major TV networks plus CNN (Vivendi is trying to combine with the fourth, NBC). Of course, the right still attempts to paint the media as liberal, but even a cursory look at that list shows that the news has the potential to be slanted in the best interests of the corporations, not a particular political view. To bring this back to the subject of this thread; Fox News even slammed Governor Palin for her actions, link here, and yes, it is from the Huffington Post, but I really don't want to spend the time searching on the Fox website; the video speaks for itself. I don't think that I am "obsessing" with Governor Palin by bringing up her utter lack of qualifications to hold higher office, I am just hoping that she simply "goes away" from the public spotlight. Seems a little thin skinned for her to complain about how she is treated when she herself has put herself out there in the public eye. Does anyone have any memories about Hillary Clinton complaining about how she has been treated in the media? Just remember how savagely Rush treated Chelsea while she was just eight or ten years old while her father was President to get some meter of how "the media" treated the Clintons, and especially Hillary.

  • There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that even remotely suggests socialism would not be in accord with the Constitution and vision of our nation's Founding Fathers.

Public Education and public funding of police and fire services are perfect examples of socialist-style programs that American have long embraced and have found to be an extreme value to our nation.

Our municipal sewage treatment plants and our highway building and maintenance programs are other prime examples of socialist programs that been long accepted as a great service and value to our society.

A socialized universal healthcare system would be equally in accord with the U.S. Constitution.

Our nation's Founding Fathers strove to united our country and envisioned a government that would foster that unity and help citizens of all walks of life equally and fairly.

There is nothing in our Constitution that proscribes capitalism or socialism. They were, in effect, treated equally by our Founding Fathers as they shapedthe blueprint for the United States.

Our nation has long embraced a unique hybrid of capitalism and socialism. By combining the two we have created "Americanism" where we combine the best of what works.

I'm proud of what our Founding Fathers created and would not wish to see that overthrown for or by people who would want to destroy programs beneficial to the average citizen and destroy the tenets of "Americanism" that have stood the test of time since the founding of our great nation.

I believe that Sarah Palin, if given the power, would aim to destroy our unique and time tested and powerful hybrid system of Americanism.

President Obama, on the other hand, has continually demonstrated that he understands and appreciates and is working to uphold and strengthen the American vision of our nation's Founding Fathers.

    Go President Obama!

  • Again, Wise Guy purposefully misuses the term 'socialism'. Karl Marx never wrote about firefighters and sewers and police in his Communist Mannifesto. That is because those things are social services. However, Marx wrote extensively about the inequalities between the worker and the owners and how the workers should unite in order to run the means of industry in the country. Marx wrote aobut the evils of capitalism and the inherent failure of the capitalist system to self-regulate and to ensure proper dissemination of wealth between the classes.

There is NOT ONE nation on this earth that has EVER been successful doing any of Marx's prescriptions of Socialism. Not even the Chinese are socialists in the Maoist-Marxist vein anymore. They, the most populace nation on earth, have chosen the marketplace to find wealth for its nation and allow free enterprise, in a chinese sort of way, to determine who gets what. If Wise Guy wants to live in a Socialist workers paradise, I suggest he emigrate to North Korea, which is the last truly socialist nation on earth.

Good luck with that. Please take as many lunatic liberals with you as possible.

Try reading "Das Kapital" or the "Communist Mannifesto" without hearing Barack Hussein Uh-bama saying the exact same things in any of his campaign or presidential speeches. It's just not possible.

Maybe, just one day, Wise Guy will be able to distinguish between social services and Socialism. I doubt it because then he wouldn;t be ble to muddy the waters and obfiscate about the evils of Socialism

  • Add Bob to the list of liberals who are unable to read the english language for what it says. No one has said that the media is state run. However, the unprecidented collusion between the Uh-bama White House and all levels of the mainstream media, from CEOs down to the anchors and reporters in the field, gives the appearance of White House control over the message. Did Bush ever have an entire evening dedicated to any of his policy initiatives by a major network? Hell-flipping-NO!!! But the slavishly devoted press, ABC specifically, dedicated an ENTIRE DAY of so-called "news" programming to the Uh-bamaCare propaganda blitz. ABC then prevented any desenting opinions, either verbally or in advertising PSAs, from airing on their network while Uh-bama filibustered on his Uh-bamaCare healthcare rationing system's virtues.

    State run? Not so much.

    State directed? Absolutely!

  • There is so little change going on that

there has been no global warming since 2001.

UK scientists have reported that global temperatures have held steady since 2001.

So why do we need the cap and trade boondoggle again?

It certainly won't be to stop "global climate change" since the global climate hasn't changed since 2001.

But Uh-bama needs the Crap-n-tirade bill to facilitate his quest for more and more control over the masses. This is the vehicle for which he implements another leg of his Marxist-socialist reinvention of America.

He already has control over the means of automobile production.

He has control over the sources of capital in this country through TARP and the bank bailouts.

The media has ceded any objectivity and thereby have ceded control of the press to him.

Uh-bama wants to control 20% of US GDP and the ability to determine who gets what kind of medical care.

Uh-bama wants to control how energy is used in this country and who gets to use it with the Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade bill.

How much more power does this clown need before he is satisfied.

If Sarah Palin is planning on running for the White House in 2012, I hope anyone but Uh-bama wins. It would be nice to have an ineffective, non-meddlesome, gridlocked government again.

These two years should serve as a warning for all time the utter catastrophe it is when Democrats control the presidency and the Congress at the same time.

  • There is a difference between "state run", "state directed" and "state inspired."

In the United States no President is powerful enough to give orders to the major media outlets. The American people would not stand for such a thing.

However, there are leaders with charisma, wisdom and ideas that are powerful enough to INSPIRE and enlighten those involved in media to be open to and promote the free flow of ideas that will help our society evolve in positive ways. Every media outlet wants to air or publish stories and ideas that inspire their audience.

President Obama has undoubtedly inspired many in the media to take a more progressive and evolved view of the world and want to reflect that in their work.

A great leader inspires as much as he dictates. President Obama is a great leader and that is why it might seem that the media is overly sympathetic toward him. They can't help but be inspired and influenced by the man because he is a great man and his influence will be felt strongly throughout the world.

President Obama is a man who atuned to his place and time in the world, who is not stuck in the molds of the past and understands the needs of the modern world. He epitomizes the confident and aware and tuned-in 21st Century man.

President Obama is a man whom the media can't help but love. He is hip, he is stylish, he is handsome, he's got fresh ideas, and he inspires the young. He is the Beatles, Elvis Presley and the '65 Mustang. Progressive and sporty but not too radical. A rebel that even mothers can love. President Obama is where it's at.

I think it is safe to say that President Obama will eclipse most of his presidential predecessors AND Michael Jackson in being famous, inspiring and a tremendous force for good in the world

    Go President Obama!

  • The hipocricy lives on.
Obama states that the Obamanation of our health care system NEEDS a public option in order to lower the costs of the private system and increase services.
O.K. I'll buy that IF you can explain when we have a failed public edication system why he doesn't argue for a "private option" (school vouchers) to cure and make competitive the public school system...
    See the hipocricy?
If competition will do wonders for healthcare then why do they treat public education like the golden cow?? Answer is...they don't. They treat the teachers unions like the sacred cows.
That is what has ruined public education and that is what ruin socialized health care.
No national healthcare until they balance the budget, and fix social security and medicare. No more money for Obama. He has no idea what he is doing, and it shows.

  • Here's what USA TODAY is reporting. Interesting.

"Sarah Palin's bombshell that she is resigning as Alaska governor actually has boosted her a bit among Republicans, a nationwide USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, though it also has dented her standing among Democrats and independents.

Two-thirds of Republicans want Palin, the party's vice presidential nominee in 2008, to be "a major national political figure" in the future. Three-fourths of Democrats hope she won't be."

By Blogger Dave Congalton, at Wednesday, July 08, 2009 6:26:00 AM

  • Republicans are facing a leadership vacuum. They have no decent leaders who have reached the national media spotlight. Palin is in the news so all their hopes go to her.

If it were not for Palin, the Republican Party would have absolutely nothing going on right now (except whatever the latest scandal is.)

If Palin is the best the Republicans have to show, it is simply more confirmation that their party is in deep trouble.

Republicans like to throw Sarah Palin's name around because the thought of her as president truly does alarm Democrats (and anyone with common sense). So, with nothing else going for them, that's the best Republicans can do to give themselves some sense of power.

I happen to believe there must be a few high-ranking Republicans with common sense and concern for our nation, who will let Palin carry the Republican flag for a couple years but would never dare risk our country by allowing her to be president.

That scares the crap out of the statist lefties as they want to keep women under control by shoving abortion down their throats.
Sarah is in charge now and she could care less what Carl Rove says or The radical left.
She will now make millions on her book and speaking tours and is accountable to noone but herself. That's powerful. She thumbs her nose at the liberal elite left inside the beltway.
It doesn't matter of she runs for office again or not...That's what the left haters don't get.
She will unite woman again and our nation against the corrupt politions from either party.
She is in the driver seat now...and driving both parties nuts, as it should be.
    Go Sarah go!

All I ask all of you is to keep talking about her...OK? Good or bad, keep talking!

  • As Vice-presidential candidates go, Sarah Palin was HEAD and SHOULDERS above Joe Biden. Sarah had the gravitas that put life back into the lifeless McCain campaign. People came out to see her wherever she went; they did not come out to see McCain when he traveled alone. Like hte ugly kid and the family dog, Sarah Palin was the pork chop around McCain's neck so the people would come out and see him. That is why, near the end of the campaign, he never went anywhere without her.

Joe Biden, on the other hand, has Uh-bama PULLING HIS HAIR OUT over the HAREBRAINED things Joe says. If he is not disclosing the location of top secret bunkers, he is telling Israel to nuke Iran. They have Joe out there doing the equivalent of McDonald's openings and pie judging contests when they send him the furtherest, most remote parts of the nation. Joe Biden is the dumbest, most overblown, bombastic, and the most wrong headed vice-president of the last 40 years. Not even Quayle was this bad. At least Quayle was harmless and mostly in the shadows. Biden facies himself to be an intellectual and of the same calibre of Cheney, which he is neither. Biden wanted to ensure defeat in Iraq by splitting the country in thirds, a plan that has been soundly dismissed with the enormous successes of the Petreaus Plan. Biden doesn't know what he is talking about. He just says whatever comes to mind. Whether he is reminiescing about FDR talking to the country on television during the Great Depression, or if he is stealing quotes from Lincoln and others, Biden embarasses EVERYONE associated with him. Why The Annointed One picked Biden is a head-scratcher. If Biden brought foreign policy experience(which he does not), why not make him SecState and Hillary VP? Did Uh-bama just pick Biden to continue to make himself look good by comparison? If you recall, Joe is the one that said, rightly so, that Uh-bama was not ready to be Commander-in-Chief. Biden also said that Americans need to be more patriotic and pay more taxes. Maybe he was referring to Tim Geithner, who has yet to be completely patriotic and has not paid all of the taxes he owes.

Sarah Palin would have been an indispensible asset to McCain. She comes from the number one energy producing state in the union, so she would be able to craft a sensible and sustainable national energy policy. She has the energy and the vibrance to communicate, better than McCain or Biden ever could, the policies to truly get this nation healed and on the road to recovery.

Do I think she is presidential material? Not necessarily. But as a policy advocate and as a communicator, she is just as good, if not better than Uh-bama with a TelePrompter (resignation annoucement not withstanding).

  • By being the defacto face of the Republican Party, I don't think Sarah Palin poses any significant threat to the Democrats. In fact, I'm sure many Democratic strategists would prefer her to remain as the perceived Republican power point.

Let her stand as the epitome of "conservatism."

No doubt the media will give her all the attention she craves, as she is good for ratings, and that could help the beleaguered Republicans keep their floundering brand alive.

But in the end, I predict it will be Republican leaders who have problems with Palin and will want to rein her in. Good luck!

By Anonymous Wise Guy, at Wednesday, July 08, 2009 11:38:00 AM

  • In a recent poll 74% of democrats do NOT want Sarah Palin to be the head of the Republican party. Awesome!
As wis guy said " I predict it will be Republican leaders who have problems with Palin and will want to rein her in"

Dude, you still don't get Sarah Palin. That's what we want! We want to piss off the dems and frustrate the RHINOS...lol
We are taking back this party and this nation. Doesn't matter who is in the White House. In fact the White House is sooooo 90's! Sarah is soooo 2012! American politics will never be run out of the White House or the Senate after what the dems have done to ruin America.

The PEOPLE are taking back the control. Just watch. This is going to be fun! It's going to blow a lot of minds.

By Anonymous Go Sarah Go!, at Wednesday, July 08, 2009 2:39:00 PM

  • The polls tell a real story.
Sarah Palin's poll numbers are skyrocketing ever since she decided to step asside and take on the issues important to most Americans.
    On the other hand...
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 30% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –8. The President’s Approval Index rating has fallen six points since release of a disappointing jobs report last week.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) now give the President good or excellent marks for handling the economy while 43% say he is doing a poor job. Those are by far his lowest ratings yet

We are now spending $100,000,000 a day ininterest on Obamas porkuluis spending bill. 100 Million a day on interest! It is now obvious to all that Obamas spending plan created no jobs and did not stimulate the economy. It did pay off his cronies and union pals as well as send a ton of money to struggling states...(How was that going to create jobs?)
Unemployment figures are headed to 11% in the next 3 months. Jobs are being lost at at an alarming rate that we have not seen since the great depression.

As Vice President Biden said on the Sunday shows..."yes, we own the economy now, we just didn't know how bad it was"

Outrage is on the way gang. The 4th of July Tea Parties (3000 strong) are still sending the message; No more bail outs, no more nationalization of private companies, get out of the banking business, lower taxes, and start reducing out huge national deficit!

Obama is now a failed President as is his presidency. He will be trying to recover from this until he is replaced in 2012. OBAMA = One Big Ass Mistake for America.

Hillary would have been far better than a rookie with no experience and with the radical statist ideologies Obama has.

  • "Anonymous" tries telling us that Palin's poll numbers have "skyrocketed" since she resigned her governorship. If that is true, what is that supposed to indicate? That people are more comfortable with her when she does not have a political office?

At this point Palin is more of a celebrity than a politician and so poll numbers are hardly indicative of her success or future as a politician.

A lot of people loved Michael Jackson, but does that mean he would be a good politician?

As for the "tea partys", let me repeat some facts that the "conservatives" posting here have conveniently avoided commenting on:

"The "tea party" concept has been co-opted by the American Family Association, an extreme right wing Christian fringe organization, with, among other things, an anti-homosexual agenda, including attempts to make homosexuality a CRIMINAL offense.

You want the evidence for this? Go to www.teapartyday.com

  • Whats with all the "doom and gloom"? When Bush was president I remember conservatives complaining about all the "doom and gloom" talk from others regarding the economy, the war, etc. Now it's all that far right rants about, is "doom and gloom." Lighten up!

By Anonymous Scott, at Thursday, July 09, 2009 10:51:00 AM

  • Doom and gloom is real to those who see it. Democrats saw doom and gloom in Iraq and with the economy. They were wrong on the first and the perpetrators of the second. Now Republicans see doom and gloom with ever escalating debt spending, a pork bill that is an abyssmal failure, nationalization of everything under the sun from cars, to medicine to your very breath. To top it all off, Obama is giving away the one thing this nation cannot survive without: our security. He claims victory in Iraq when he was dedicated to our defeat, he is giving away our nukes while doing nothing to prevent Iran or N. Korea from getting their.

Doom and gloom with Herr Dictator Uh-bama is real.

Sarah Palin would be a better president as a celebrity than this guy is as a politician.

By Anonymous Big Tent Republican, at Thursday, July 09, 2009 11:34:00 AM

  • My point is that the economy tanked on Bush's watch, and only now are you (conservatives) acting as if the world is coming to an end. Your motives are very transparent.

Also, I don't recall Obama ever declaring "victory" in Iraq. Bush did that. Remember "Mission Accomplished"?

By Anonymous Scott, at Thursday, July 09, 2009 2:24:00 PM

  • The arguments the "conservatives" post here continue to be radically and absurdly contradictory.

For example, on the one hand they try to portray President Obama as inept and a weak leader. Simultaneously they criticize him for being a powerful "dictator" or "king" who is fooling all the liberals and rapidly transforming the United States into a "Marxist state."

So, if President Obama is so weak or inept, how is it that he has supposedly wrestled away so much power and control that he has become a "dictator" or "king" in the United States?

Bottom line: President Obama is doing a fine job doing exactly what the American people elected him to. He has been steady and consistent. As for keeping America safe, I suspect he doing many things behind the scenes with the Defense Department that he doesn't feel it wise to advertise about through the mass media.

The "conservatives" seem to want us to forget that it was George W. Bush who got us into a WAR in the Middle East and was on watch when the World Trade Center went down in flames and thousands of Americans were killed on their own soil.

President Obama would have a long way to go to match the failures of the Bush administration.

President Obama has a vision and a blueprint for making the United States stronger and more healthy and everything suggests he is moving slowly but steadily toward making that vision become a reality. America is ready and needs to evolve. The people elected President Obama because he is the leader who is evolved enough, wise enough, confident and secure enough to embrace that need for change. More power to him!

    Go President Obama!

By Anonymous Wise Guy, at Thursday, July 09, 2009 10:21:00 PM

  • Wise Guy, the comically insane (or is it innane?) strikes again. It was hypocritical boobs like Wise Guy that said in the same breathe that the utter moron George W. Bush was orchestrating the greatest takeover and destruction of our civil liberties ever. Bush's ineptitude resulted in him advocating for the "double down" in Iraq with the surge and the Petreaus strategy which has put Iraq on a course for responsible self-rule in the Middle East.

No one I have heard has called Uh-bama himself "inept". His spin doctors and blithering idiot of a mouth-piece, Robert Gibbs, are inept. But Uh-bama is a tried and true Marxist-Socialist that has as his goal the complete domination of the market sector in order to be able to control all of the elements of American life so that he and his like-minded sycophants can orchestrate events and conditions as they see fit. There has been a clear march towards Marxist-socialism since Uh-bama has been sworn in. Every move Uh-bama has made is towards greater and greater governmental control, often on false or misleading premises. Global warming (or climate change or whatever you want to call it today) has stopped, period. Temperatures have either fallen or remained steady since 2001. And yet, Uh-bama is getting other idiots together to agree to hold temperature increase to 2 degrees celcius. Uh-bama says that the threat of seas rising and temperatures rising blah blah blah is so great that the leaders of the world must follow the US down this Cap and tax bullshit. Well, with temperatures falling, El Nino bringing more rain to the US and CO2 levels recedeing...Mission Accomplished!!

Uh-bama is also very comfortable talking and commiserating with the world's dictators. He has no problem with Aquavelvanejad staging a bogus electing in Iran and then repressing the people who cry foul. He advocates, as does other Marxists Evo Mendes and Hugo Chavez, that the other Marxist Zalaya in Honduras get his old job back, even though the guy wants to inexorably alter his nation's constitution to enable him unlimited rule, like Chavez. This white house is even talking about seeking a repeal of the 25th Amendment so Uh-bama can extend his rule... AND HE HAS ONLY BEEN IN OFFICE 6 MONTHS!!!

This administration has been a failure on all fronts. The Trillion Dollar Stimulus has already failed. The admission came from Steny Hoyer who said a second stimulus is needed. How can that be? Uh-bama said that the first stimulus did its job even though it saved the jobs of 3000 cops, while losing 1.9 million other jobs. The stimulus was supposed to keep unemployment from rising to 8.5%. It did that too, by raising it to 9.5%. Such a failure is this "stimulus" bill that Uh-bama fired the Inspector General that was supposed to be the watchdog for how the money was spent. We need to support the GOP bill to repeal the Stimulus Bill and stop this wasteful spending .

All of this has led to a drop in Uh-bama's job approval to 47% and his "strongly disapprove" numbers outpace his "strongly approve" numbers by 8 percentage points. The Senate refuses to bring up Cap and Tax and signs put to Uh-bamaCare stalling out. All of this hopefully points to GOP victories a year and a half from now in the House and Senate and a one term presidency for barack Hussein Uh-bama.

  • I think it is a great demonstration of strength, confidence, wisdom and courage that President Obama is so willing to communicate directly with leaders of other nations, including those who are the most troublesome.

That may not be everybody's style, and I think it might've been a big mistake for some of our past presidents, but I'm glad to see President Obama has the capacity and willingness to deal with world leaders eye to eye.

That's the type of leadership I feel most comfortable with and respect.

Unfortunately, I can't say I would have the same confidence in Sarah Palin, should she want to meet world leaders. I don't think she has the kind of diplomacy skills that I feel comfortable about.

But President Obama, I believe, is a good international representative for the United States. I'm glad we have him as our President at this time in our history.

    Go President Obama!
